The professional association Danse Suisse and Reso – Dancenetwork Switzerland, together with local interest groups for dance, are joining forces to represent the Swiss dance scene and promote the interests of the dance community. They offer further training, networking and advice, and engage in political lobbying. Together, they can represent the concerns of the dance world and develop targeted offers for the scene. However, structural changes in funding institutions and cycles pose clear challenges, which the interest groups actively address in cultural policy. The goal of all of them is to strengthen networks, share knowledge and exploit synergies in order to promote the scene in the long term and put its interests on the political agenda.
Are the IGs – 10 interest groups for dance spread across Switzerland – relevant for the sustainable promotion of the Swiss dance scene? Which cogs need to be meshed so that the dance scene can operate effectively?
A panel discussion moderated by the professional association Danse Suisse with representatives of the IGs from the three language regions and a representative from cultural promotion (or politics) will discuss important issues facing the dance scene.
