Discussion

Institutions Fostering Sustainable Artist Careers

What does continuity mean for institutions and artists?
Committing to an experimental artistic language takes time. Committing to creating space for that takes even longer.
This discussion highlights models that have chosen to focus on extending artistic and dramaturgical practices beyond the usual. Certain institutions within the Swiss and international scene have come up with strategies to counter production-oriented processes and enable more relaxed and consistent approaches to developing artistic language, involving the extended community and in putting the “house” back into the definition of the artistic house.
Tanzhaus Zurich and Theatre Sevelin 36 present their respective collaboration models that foster sustainable structures for artistic and dramaturgical research. The introductions give way to an open discussion with the participating audiences, on what can be a more convivial future for artists and institutions to share their resources sustainably.
