Edition 2022
From 2 to 6 February 2021 in Basel, the 11th Swiss Dance Days had showcased the winning performances selected by the jury from almost 150 entries. Due to the pandemic the Swiss Dance Days of 2021 had to be cancelled, the selection (see archive) was retained and could be shown to a wide audience in 2022. The programme offered a snapshot of dynamic, humorous and powerful physical studies and autobiographical works full of performative joy and the courage to question virtuosity. A special focus is on several powerful works from the younger generation of Swiss choreographers.

Part process, part performance and living exhibition – most of all, however, the piece FAUNE is a search. Is the earth which has buried the faun of Mallarmé, Debussy and Nijinsky contaminated? A choreographic extraction is required, taking feminist, ecological and post-modern perspectives into account.
FAUNE is a movement. Searching for our ‘humanimality’. Searching for the physical link between onanism and onirism. Instilling creativity again to embody the life force. To free desire to express it fully. Searching for the original to find the original?
FAUNE is a statement. May absence allow a moment of solitary pleasure. May our fetishes become joyful games. To go through the flesh and the object to enjoy the world.
FAUNE is a manifesto. Democratize the roles! Let everyone imagine themselves as Faun! Let everyone become a nymph! Let everyone transform into a musical reed!
After engagements as a dancer at the Stuttgart Ballet and the Merce Cunningham Company, and having won several awards, Foofwa d’Imobilité founded the Compagnie Neopost Foofwa in Geneva in 2000 in order to implement various artistic projects, for example the Dancewalk. This journey in dance, which has already been presented in 35 regions of the world over a distance of more than 800 kilometres, enables encounters, collaborations, dialogue and human adventure. As a jury member of the 2021 Swiss Dance Days, Foofwa received carte blanche and created the piece Faune together with Alex Landa Aguirreche and Alizée Sourbé.
