2020: Obscene

In «2020: Obscene», Alexandra Bachzetsis examines the ambivalence of the terms «scene» and «obscene» which is alluded to in the title. In a collaborative process, she tests the conditions for staged (re-)presentation, emphasizing how excessively bodies are staged and exposed on stage, while the desirous eyes of the viewers follow them. The focus here is on theatre as a dispositive and its potential for manipulation: a place of seduction, attraction and playing with sexual identity. «2020: Obscene» dedicates itself to excess as a radical interruption of conventional forms, gestures, cultural patterns and archetypes, in order to actively question the subversive and normative aspects of performance art.
