Théâtre de l’extrême / Luana Volet
Feminist outdoor parade
Reclaim the public space
Strength
Empowerment
«parade d’intimidation aigre-douce» – «a bittersweet parade of intimidation» – thus the title of this infectious and furious outdoor daytime performance of the young, Lausanne-based company Théâtre de l’extrême surrounding Luana Volet. The title is programmatic: a group of women appears suddenly, lays down the rhythm and invites the audience to follow them. With dance and acrobatics, these energetic and powerful bodies fill the space, guiding and confronting the gaze of the spectators. In doing so, the performers transport themselves and the audience into that suspended moment of potentiality, the ‘shortly before’ when nothing has happened yet, but everything could still happen. «parade d’intimidation aigre-douce» is piece, parade and performance as well as a feminist and antiracist invitation to shake up the relation between public space and people, who often are less represented in it. A programmatic demand to live out resistance and opposition – with extravagance, fragility and a good dose of mockery.
Luana Volet is an acrobat and performer from Lausanne. She specialized in circus performance at the Ecole de Cirque de Lausanne, at the circus project Waldoni in Darmstadt and at Passe Muraille in Besançon. In 2016, she graduated from the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Ticino; in 2023 she completed her master’s degree at FAI-AIR, an academy of art in the public spaces, in Marseille. Since 2020, she has been creating pieces combining dance, physical theatre and circus art with the company Théâtre de l’extrême in Lausanne.
