«Open/Closed» guides the visitor through an intimate research, exposing the body inside-out and outside-in. To the sound of organic textures, Pierre’s vulnerable and multi-layered dances are releasing a powerful sensitivity. Originating from a single vocal sample created by Simone Aubert, the trembling voice intensifies into the soundtrack of a fiercely vulnerable and personal revolution. The boundaries of the self fade away as an invitation to become Open/Closed to our surroundings.
TRIGGER WARNING: Strobe lighting is used in this performance.
After their first training at the National Conservatory of Paris, Pierre studied at La Manufacture Lausanne under the artistic direction of Thomas Hauert (2014-2017). Between 2018 and 2023, Pierre freelanced for various choreographers such as Ioannis Mandafounis, Mark Lorimer, Juliette Uzor, Marion Zurbach, Philippe Saire, and Natasza Gerlach. As of June 2019, they joined the collective The Field in exchange with Tanzhaus Zürich and collaborated with Simone Aughterlony, Monica Gillette, Isabel Lewis, and Meg Stuart. As a choreographer, Pierre presented «Capillotractée», his first choreographic work, for Danse Élargie 2017 at the Théâtre De la Ville in Paris. They also founded La PP in collaboration with Romane Peytavin and became Associated Artist at l’Abri Geneva. The duo created «Dédicace» for the Antigel Festival in February 2019 and presented «Farewell Body» at l'Arsenic Lausanne in May 2019. This last works were respectively selected to participate in the Swiss Sélection in Avignon and the Swiss Dance Days Basel 2022.
