Edition 2019

From 6 to 9 February 2019 in Lausanne, the 10th Swiss Dance Days had showcased the winning performances selected by the jury from over 150 entries. The programme offered a snapshot of the trends that are currently inspiring Swiss choreographers and dancers.

Dancewalk – Rétroperspectives

The dancewalk is movement as a voyage. A danced, geographic trace that uses walking as its choreographic basis. It can last for several hours or go on for several kilometres. Invented by Foofwa d’Imobilité, the dancewalk was born in response to the following observation: dance habitually happens in closed spaces, inside enclosed areas of sometimes only a few meters squared. «Dancewalk – Rétroperspectives» proposes a live traced choreographic articulation, along with a video compilation of three years of danced walking from around the word, both alone and in the company of others. Accompanied by dancer Alizée Sourbé, the audience will travel around the globe as they discover the retrospective.


Foofwa d’Imobilité After dancing with the Stuttgart Ballet and the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, he founded his own company, Neopost Foofwa, in Geneva in 2000.

At a certain distance from the seriousness traditionally associated with dance, his art oscillates between a voluntary detachment from prevailing conventions and an extreme rigor of gestural execution. His research focuses on the relationship between the audience and the choreographic work, as well as the hybridisation between pure contemporary dance and performance art. In 2013 Foofwa d’Imobilité received the Swiss Dance Prize as Outstanding Dancer.
